A man in his 30s was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly filming a teenage girl in Bandar Utama shopping mall toilet. The incident came to light after the 14-year-old noticed a mobile phone hidden in the window between toilets. The incident took place at 6:45 pm in Petaling Jaya. The 33 -year-old suspect, who is an information technology worker, was soon arrested after the teenager’s mother filed a police complaint against him.

Petaling Jaya police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid confirmed the incident. According to reports, the teenager’s mother confronted the man after the girl narrated the incident to her. However, he tried to escape after she asked him if he recorded a video of her in the toilet.
The woman and her daughter managed to chase the suspect, however, they could only grab the mobile phone before he took off again. It is believed he even pushed the girl down when she caught hold of him.
Authorities said that the case will be investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code.
