Along with popularity among the youths, the new trend on Tik Tok has managed to gain the attention of many, including religious authorities.

The motive behind the new trend– “Unboxing By Husband or “Unboxing Bride” is just to gain views on social media in the name of bad content, said an Islamic preacher.

Although the newlyweds are making videos to express their happiness, religious authorities have criticised it stating that it is against Islamic principles.

The Perak Islamic Department has advised Muslims to stay away from this trend as it is against Islamic teaching. In a Facebook post, the department stated, “The act of ‘unboxing’ is not part of Islamic teaching because it is the beginning of sin and invites slander.”

In an interview, the Muslim preacher PU Syed also hit out at the trend and stated, “Exposing your aurat (wife) is forbidden, let alone exposing your wife’s aurat! And you’re still proud of sharing ‘haram’ content just to gain a lot of views!”
