Only 5% Of People In Low-Income Countries Fully Vaccinated: WHO

Only 5 per cent of people in the low-income countries are fully vaccinated so far, according to the data shared by the WHO. Nigeria, the most populous country of the Africa continent, has managed to vaccinate less than 3% of its population against Covid-19. While Ethiopia, with more than 110 million population, has completed 3.5% of vaccination, followed by Uganda (3.94%), Sudan (3.9%), Mali (2.7%), and South Sudan (1.7%).

According to the top health body, nearly 50 per cent of the world’s population has been fully vaccinated against the Covid-19. While 9 per cent of people have been partially vaccinated and 41 per cent population yet to receive a single dose of Covid-19.

On the other hand, the richest countries like—UAE, the US, China, Japan, the UK, and Canada have managed to vaccinate most of their population.

According to the WHO, more than 90 per cent of people in UAE has received both doses or fully vaccinated followed by the US (62%), UK (70%), Canada (78%), China (84%), Portugal (90%), Australia (77%), Russia (46%), India (45%), and Pakistan (33%).

The covid-19 pandemic, however, seems distant yet again as the Omicron variant is spreading quickly across the world. Despite having the vaccines, the daily number of cases and hospitalization have been increased over the past few weeks.

Many countries, including the US, UK, Australia, India, Brazil are planning to impose a new lockdown in order to curb the virus.
