Pandora Papers: Zafrul’s Name In Leaked Documents, Minister Denies Claim

Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz has expressed his extreme indignation over his name in the leaked Pandora Papers. Dismissing his name linked to an offshore company, the minister said that he is no longer involved in any firm and company. He said that he had quit all executive and directorship roles at Kenanga Group in 2010. Zafrul‘s statement comes hours after his name appeared in Pandora Papers, claiming that he was director of a firm.

Finance Minister Zafrul Aziz said that he was part of Kenanga Group for one and half years only from 2009 to 2010.

The news portal Malaysiakini reported that Zafrul was among the high profile Malaysian names in the Pandora papers–investigated by The Guardian and BBC along with more than 600 journalists.

Meanwhile, Zafrul has said he is in talks with his lawyer to take action against the Malaysiakini for linking his name in Pandora Papers.

Apart from the Zafrul, Deputy Finance Minister Yamani Hafez Musa, UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and Westports Holdings Bhd chairman Tan Sri G Gnanalingam’s name also appeared in leaked documents.
