Personality Politics Will No Longer Attract Votes, Says Rafizi Ramli

Former Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli today in his comeback speech said that personality politics must go now. He said it can no longer attract votes as the electorate has become more tasteful. Citing examples of Pakatan Harapan, Ramli said that some think that PH won’t win without Dr Mahathir Mohamad. He said some think politics is about creating a tsunami. According to him, people are following one personality just because there is a person.

In his comeback speech, Rafizi Ramli said people in PH who believe that we won’t win without having Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s support are far from the reality on the ground and with the electorate.

“There are some in PH whose view is that politics is about creating a tsunami, where they say people would follow a personality just because one person is there. I disagree with this because people are not stupid,” he said.

During a talk show hosted by Johor PKR chief Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, Ramli said that more than copying personality, PH should focus on people’s welfare.

Earlier last week, Ramli, who quit politics in 2019 in order to focus on his own business, announced his comeback to politics, contesting for the PKR deputy presidency.
