Kuala Lumpur: State Speaker Datuk Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid said that a motion tabled by Umno’s Trong assemblyman Jamilah Zakaria to back newly appointed Mentri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad was passed unanimously by all 59 Perak state lawmakers, including the 24 opposition assemblymen from Pakatan Harapan.
The motion was tabled during the state assembly sitting, while support for Saarani was unanimous.
The motion was submitted by Jamilah, after all, 59 assemblymen chose to stand in favour of Saarani when the motion was brought to vote. Zahir thanked all the assemblymen for standing together and showing maturity.
Saarani took oath as Perak’s Mentri Besar on 10 December, after Ahmad Faizal Azumu tendered his resignation as Perak Menteri Besar, a day after he lost a vote of confidence in the State Assembly sitting.
