Here’s What MACC Boss Azam Baki Said On Securities Commission’s Decision?

The Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Azam Baki expressed his gratitude for the decision made by the Securities Commission (SC). It is related to the investigation carried out by the capital market regulator following allegations of his unusual share ownership in a private firm. Earlier today, SC had concluded its inquiry on Azam Baki’s matter and said that the law was breached by the MACC chief.

“Alhamdulillah, I express my gratitude for the decision made by the SC which has found no wrongdoing on my part,” Azam Baki said in his statement.

“I have been informed by the SC that the investigation into the matter has been finalised. “Therefore, the SC has closed the inquiry file,” he said in a statement today.

He stressed that he will continue his responsibility as the Chief Commissioner of the MACC to eradicate corruption in the country regardless of rank or position.

The SC in a statement today said it could not determine conclusively whether there was a breach of law under Section 25 (4) of the Securities Industry Act on the issue of ownership of Azam shares and terminated the inquiry.
