Video: Tens of Thousands of Protests In Russia Demanding For Navaln’s Release

Moscow: Thousands of protesters have come out on the streets of the Russian capital Moscow, demanding the release of Alexei Navalny, who was arrested by authorities soon after he called the nationwide agitation against the Russian government last week on 17 January.

According to reports, more than 3,000 protesters have been arrested, including Russian President Vladimir Putin’s top critic Navalny, his wife Yulia Navalnaya, his spokesperson Kira Yarmysh, and dozens of his close aides.

Navalny was arrested last week after he landed in Moscow from Germany, where was being treated, after poisoning in August 2017.

Nearly 100 rallies were organised across the country against his longtime rival President Putin by Navalny, who had blamed in August that he was poisoned by the Russian government to kill him.

According to reports, clashes have erupted between hundreds of pro-Navalny protesters, who have taken to the streets in minus 50 degree temperatures, and security forces.

A blogger and lawyer-turned activist Navalny, who has a huge fan following in Russia, came into Russian government’s eyes for the first time after he exposed corruption in his several stories in 2008.
