Pakistan media reported that Priyantha Kumara, who was working as a factor manager in Punjab’s Sialkot province, was beaten to death and his body burnt by the supporters of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). PM Imran Khan expressed his extreme indignation and said, “it’s a matter of shame.”

According to reports, the victim was beaten up by hardliners because he tore off a poster of TLP and threw it in a dustbin. The eyewitnesses claim that Quranic verses were inscribed on the poster.

Soon after the incident, hundreds of protesters and supporters of TLP, an extremist organisation in Pakistan, gathered outside the factory and started shouting against man’s “act of blasphemy.”

The local police, who identified the victim as Priyantha Kumara, said that he was dragged from the factory and brutally beaten up on a busy road. He succumbed to injuries on the spot.
