Flash Flood Hits Several Houses In Shah Alam After Downpour

Flash flooding hit several areas of Shah Alam yesterday. It started at 5:30 pm and receded at around 9 pm. According to Kota Anggerik state assemblyman Najwan Halimi, a total of 60 houses in Section 4 and 10 were affected by the flash floods. He further stated that no casualties or major house damage were reported.

He said that some 20 houses in Section 4 and 40 houses in Section 10 were flooded. But the residents in the area were prepared beforehand, so the damage caused by the flash floods was minimal.

He stated that while he was surveying the affected areas. Najwan further added that the Kota Anggerik Community Service Centre has immediately sent assistance and is also helping residents in cleaning their houses. 

The cause of the flash floods is still unknown, but it is believed that it could be because of the drainage system or that the flood gate to Lake Shah Alam was shut.

According to him, another flash flood was reported in Section 13 and was caused due by overflow from Sungai Damansara. He stated that the river needs to be deepened as it is no longer able to hold enough water.
