Perikatan Nasional’s Proposed Budget 2021 Passed In The Parliament With Voice Vote

Kuala Lumpur: The Budget 2021, proposed by Perikatan Nasional’s government, was approved in parliament after Speaker Azhar Azizan Harun called for a voice vote. Both the government and opposition leaders have given their consent. Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz’s Budget gave the last winding speech, after which Speaker Azhar Azizan Harun called for the voice vote.

He further called for MPs in parliament who were against the motion. For the motion to fail, at least 15 lawmakers should stand against it.

However, he later announced to the lower house that those opposing the bid was less than 15, with more lawmakers agreeing with the motion.

He stated that only 13 lawmakers were against the motion, while a minimum of 15 lawmakers was needed to oppose the voice vote to fail.

Before adjourning the session, he said the motion had passed and the Bill would then be tabled at the committee level on Monday.
