Retired Researcher Killed In Bangsar Home Invasion

Kuala Lumpur: A former researcher with the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) was killed in a home invasion at his house in Bangsar by two burglars.

Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said two men were believed to have broken into the home during a power outage at about 3 am.

He said that Dr Wan Hassan Wan Embong died at on the spot after he was slashed on his nec, while his wife was admitted to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) with slash wounds to her shoulder.

The burglars attacked him while he was putting up a fight against them when they broke into the house through the kitchen window.

Nik Ros Azhan said the two fled with a wallet and laptop computer, however, the actual value of belongings taken by the burglars has yet to be confirmed.

The couple’s daughter called the police after her mother informed her of the incident. Police are trying to track down the two suspects. For now, the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
