Kuala Lumpur: Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob today announced that the work-from-home policy for the public sector has been extended to all states, as they understand working parents need to take care of their children, who are now forced to stay at home due to nationwide school closures.
He stated that the head of the department would decide who is needed in the office. While for the industrial sector, the international trade and industry ministry will announce the policy.
He said that the government understands with schools and daycare centres closed nationwide, working parents with young kids are left in a predicament.
Earlier, the Education Ministry announced that all the closings will be shut down from 9 November until the end of the session i.e 18 December 2020.
This includes primary and secondary schools, as well as private schools which are registered under the ministry. Schools with hostel facilities, including vocational colleges, would also be closed.
