Police Arrested Main Suspect Over Retired Researcher’s Murder

Kuala Lumpur: Police have arrested the main suspect, who was involved in the murder and robbery case of a former researcher with the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI). Dr Wan Hassan Wan Embong was killed in a home invasion at his house in Bangsar by burglars.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said the suspect was detained along with two others.

Earlier, 10 individuals suspected of being involved in the murder were nabbed by the police. After which police were able to track down the main suspect involved behind the tragic incident, who has a history of criminal charges.

Dr Wan Hassan Wan Embong was slashed on his neck and body and died at the scene while his wife was admitted to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) with slash wounds to her shoulder.

The burglars attacked him while he was putting up a fight against them when they broke into the house through the kitchen window.
